Last updated: 16 January 2026

LifeUK — Life in the UK Study is a mobile application published under the CivicaPrep brand, a trading name of Bernard McLaughlin. This privacy policy explains how the app handles information across all supported platforms, including Android and iOS.

1. No account required

The app does not require user accounts, registration, or login. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other directly identifying personal information.

2. Data stored on your device

App data such as test progress, scores, streaks, unlocked content, saved questions, and preferences is stored locally on your device using the operating system’s local storage mechanisms.

CivicaPrep does not operate user accounts, does not run user databases, and does not store personal data on external servers.

3. In-app purchases

Premium features are unlocked using the official in-app purchase systems provided by the platform on which the app is installed (for example, Apple App Store or Google Play).

All payment processing is handled directly by the platform provider. CivicaPrep does not receive, process, or store payment details.

4. Advertising

The free (freemium) version of the app may display advertising. Advertising services (such as Google AdMob) may collect limited technical information, including device identifiers, approximate location, and usage data, for advertising delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.

This data is collected and processed in accordance with the advertising provider’s own privacy policies.

5. Data sharing

CivicaPrep does not sell personal data. Information may be shared only where necessary to provide core app functionality, including:

  • Platform providers — for app distribution and in-app purchase processing
  • Advertising partners — for displaying ads in the free version of the app

These third-party services operate under their own independent privacy policies.

6. Diagnostics and crash reports

The operating system or app distribution platform may collect anonymous diagnostic information, such as crash logs or performance metrics, to help improve app stability and reliability.

CivicaPrep does not receive personal identifying information through these reports.

7. Children

This app is not specifically directed at children under 13. It is designed for adults preparing for the official Life in the UK test.

8. Content licensing

Some educational content within the app is derived from official UK government publications released under the Open Government Licence (OGL). Such content is reproduced and adapted in accordance with the terms of that licence.

9. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated revision date at the top of this page.
